Tang Soo Do
Tang Soo Do is a Korean martial art that originated over 2000 years ago. Korea was divided into three kingdoms which fought to control the entire peninsula. The fighting lasted for years in a stale mate. The Silla Kingdom seeking to turn the tables organized an elite group of youth warriors named the Hwa Rang.
The Hwa Rang were sent to China during the Tang dynasty. While in China the young Korean warriors studied in martial arts. They then returned to Korea and using their superior fighting skills conquered the other two kingdoms uniting the country as one. The five codes of Tang Soo Do are the same today as they were 2000 years ago.
The art of Tang Soo Do is one of the most effective forms of self defense in the world. It focuses on powerful kicking techniques along with an array of hand movements that can be used to keep a safe distance from an adversary while delivering necessary defensive blows. The effectiveness of the Korean martial arts is evident in any martial arts tournament where the majority of champions train in a Korean Discipline.

Tang Soo Do shares many similarities with Tae Kwon Do. The basic techniques & forms are very similar. These two martial arts were actually one and same not to long ago. The division came when the martial art was turned into a sport. Some martial artist did not want to transition their art form into a sport and so remained under Tang Soo Do. Tae Kwon Do went on to become the Korean national sport while Tang Soo Do practitioners remained loyal to the ancient art.
